Tuesday Scholar Classes

Students collaborating in a Scholar Prep session

Scholar Prep (ages 11-13)

Tuesdays: 12:45-3:00 p.m.; Tuition: $300 per semester or $75 per month September-April

Youth ages 11-13 are in a wonderful developmental phase. They are typically excited about things and really want to engage. Physically their brains are going through an incredible growing time and their capacity to learn and grasp is heightened. So it's a time to foster their excitement while nurturing that increased capacity to learn. The purpose of the Scholar Prep class is to do just this. It bridges the gap between the Love of Learning Class and the Scholar A class. Scholar Prep keeps some parts of Love of Learning while introducing and practicing the skills of a scholar.

Through the Scholar Prep class, students grow in their capacity to read and to find principles in what they read. They increase in their capacity to write and share what they are learning in a group setting. They have opportunities to learn oral recitation and engage in projects that bring the hands-on, creative element to their learning experience. They participate in interactive leadership-style games which helps them feel more comfortable in their own skin while interacting with others. In Scholar Prep they do all of this with mentors and positive peer interaction.
