What is the Craftsmanship Class? How will students grow?

In this class students will learn to make things with their hands. The class is project based with a wide assortment of projects throughout the year. As we work on these projects, students will grow in many ways including: self-confidence, dexterity, attention, following instructions, whole-brain development, creativity, spatial abilities, and kinesthetic learning. Though what we will be doing in this class is not considered academic, it has the potential to holistically improve a child's academic ability. Whole child = Whole learning. This class is an effort to attend to the whole child.

Purpose

The purpose of this class is to increase each student's confidence in themselves as they learn to create with their hands. It is also to foster joy and the sense of accomplishment as they work to complete each creative project.

Who is this class for?

This class is for boys and girls ages approximately 9-12. It is possible an 8 year old could be part of this class and it could also be possible that a 13 year old would enjoy it too. It really depends on the child.
