Tuesday Scholar Classes
Scholar Prep (ages 11-13)
Tuesdays: 12:45-3:00 p.m.; Tuition: $260 per semester or $65 per month September-April
Youth ages 11-13 are in a wonderful developmental phase. They are typically so excited about things and really want to engage. Physically their brains are going through an incredible growing time and their capacity to learn and grasp is heightened. So it’s a time to foster their excitement while nurturing that increased capacity to learn. In this class students will work on developing the tools they need for a great scholar phase in an environment that is supportive, encouraging, and fun. They will increase in their capacity to read and to find principles in what they read. They will learn to capture their ideas in writing and enjoy sharing what they learn with their mentor and peers. Students are encouraged to make their own reading goal and read at least a book a week from a suggested list of excellent literature and non-fiction. Students choose what they read by what they are interested in and by suggestions from their parents and mentors. Students will also learn excellence through doing a an oral recitation and a scholar project of their choice. This class is an excellent transition between Love of Learning and Scholar A.
