Love of Learning (9-12)

*Please note that in the descriptions below, tuition has been broken down by subject to assist those who use My Tech High. However, the Love of Learning classes are taught as a whole and in a wholistic, student centered way, so that students must enroll for the entire 2 1/2 hours and not per individual subject. There are two Love of Learning Classes held on Monday: 12:15-2:45 and Wednesday 12:15-2:45 . Love of Learning Classes are $260 per semester or $65 a month September through April.

** ages of children can be approximate.

Language Arts

Tuition $65 semester or $16 month

The learning of this class will stem from classic children’s literature, poetry, stories from U.S. history, and stories of the great scientists, artists, composers, poets, and leaders. Students will discuss and share what they are learning and also capture it in a notebook either in drawing or writing. In a fun and engaging way, students will memorize a selection of poetry and songs. Outside of class, students are encouraged to read at least one book a week of their choice and write or draw about it. They are also encouraged to keep a copy book and an individual spelling list.

History/Music

Tuition $65 semester or $16 month

History will be interwoven during the entire Love of Learning class. Through learning the stories of great poets, composers, scientists, presidents, leaders, and reading great literature, history becomes a natural, holistic, and memorable study for the students. We will incorporate music in this holistic study through song and in listening to the works of the great composers. Students will capture their learning in artistic expression and writing.

Math

Tuition $65 semester or $16 month

The purpose of this part of the class is to foster a love of math and an understanding of what it is, where it came from, and why we need it. We will explore the stories of great mathematicians, find math in the physical world around us, and engage in related problem solving activities. This portion of class is meant to enrich the math program students are already doing at home.
